Alle deeltjes die door de lucht- en smeeroliefilters gaan, die groter zijn dan 0,3 micron, worden door de separator gevangen. Afscheiders zijn gebouwd uit een diepte -laadmedia en hebben goede vuilhollingmogelijkheden. Het basisdoel van dit product is om de olie van de lucht te scheiden door middel van samenwerking. De olie wordt fysiek gevangen door de separator en laat lucht erdoorheen gaan. De olie wordt vervolgens afgevoerd naar de carter, verwijderd door de pick -upbuis en retourlijnen, en teruggebracht naar de carter om opnieuw te worden gecomprimeerd in een continue cyclus. Het leven van een separator zal aanzienlijk variëren van duizenden uren tot zeer korte cycli, afhankelijk van het gebruik en omgevingscondities.
